If You Love Me, You Will Rub Me (On Your Body)

In the spirit of occasional indulgences and frequent delicious deals, here are a couple, nay, a triplet of goodies I have been slathering on myself quite often. And a couple are throwbacks (holla for a dolla!), lemme tell ya.
Perhaps a yearning for a childhood lost?
Nah. They just smell good.

Dudes! They brought sexy back!

It's Herbal Essence all DAY, son. ALL DAY. I subconsciously realized they discontinued making the original stuff a few years back. My inner psyche mourned, I am sure.

But it is back, and seeing it on the shelf again...well, I HAD to buy it; my fondness for the 90's made me do it. As awesome as I had hoped? YES! YES! YES! I even use it on the little ones, along with this:

Another golden oldie. The hits just keep coming. The kids smell good for about two days, which is plenty. It says it smells like white peaches, whatever the heck that means. I think it smells like what pearls would smell like if pearls were snow falling down like a cloud of mana in heaven. Just don't get either of these treats into the little tiny eye ducts, and everyone stays happy and scream-free.

And finally:

This is another goody I use on me, the kids, the husband, visitors to the Tamale Palace, strangers, students, the homeless, et al.

To me it smells very frankincense-y, which I like. And the yum smell lasts. I have often wondered if I can spread it on my toast like Nutella, but that is an experiment for another post.

So go to Target, or drugstore.com to grab these little babies before they decide to discontinue them!

love ya, babies!

Love on the Cheap

Last night, my buddy Ninja (a.k.a. recording artist Nichole Deborah) and I sat in my Sexy Flexy, carefully retouching our makeup before dropping by an art exhibit at my church,  New City, by the incredible world renowned artist Bruce Herman. (More on this magical night in a different post.) I dabbed dabbed dabbed away on my little face, erasing a few wrinkles and spots in the process.

'What are you using?', my Ninja friend asked. 'Your Laura Mercier?'

'No', I replied nonchalantly. 'My cheapie'.
And then I realized how much I loved my cheapie.

Maybelline Dream Matte Mouse, 9 buckaroos here.

And then today, whilst perusing the aisles at Target, I came across this spring color from Milani Cosmetics:

Don't be frightened, friends. It's just a lovely little flamingo. Flamingo Red, to be exact. I like this color because it borders the best of my two favorite lip color in the lip color world: coral and pink. Is it Poral? Cink? Whatever it may be, I likey. $4.99 at your local Target.

I love you, cheapies.

Here, Kitty Kitty Kitty...

Every couple o' years, I get a bit blinder. So, after a lovely visit with the optometrist,  I have a new prescription clutched in these sweaty little hands.

The search for the perfect frame has begun.

I am totally into the aluminum frame cat eyeHowever, due to the fact we reside in a vast baking desert, and not sure if the sun will sear the frames into my face hole. I suppose this is something only time will tell. And, as it is for fashion, it is a risk I am willing to endure.

So after some vintage soul-searching on Etsy, I found a me few, some for fun, some under serious consideration:

Contender #1:
Blush and Gold

Contender #2:
Silver

Contender #3:
Black and White

And for zee kicks:

And then there is this beautiful oddity. The large flair on the left hand side was used to hold one's hair back like a faux barrett in the good ole' 50's. Happily bizarre!

All I know is everything is really fuzzy, so I gots ta make up my mind soooon.

These skirts make my eyes happy.

Skirts, all J. Crew.

I may be taking the plunge with that last one very soon.

Happy Friday!
